Here is a nice group of pieces associated with a soldier from the 14th, New Hampshire Infantry. Henry Sanborn enlisted as a private in the 14th, New Hampshire Infantry on August 21, 1862. He mustered out on August 8, 1865 at Savannah, Georgia. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal on December 1, 1864. During that time the 14th, New Hampshire were engaged at 2 of the battles of Winchester, Virginia and also at Cedar Creek, Virginia. The group is composed of a pension document from 1913. There is also one of the beautiful soldier Memorial poster published by Currier & Ives. We know that it was done during 1863. Because that is the last updated notation on what happened to the soldiers. At the top it has the beautiful spread wing Eagle with the image of the US Capitol on one side and on the other is Fort Sumter. There is a modern color Xerox copy of the photograph that is reported to be Private Sanborn. There is also in 1826 dated document stating that a soldier can join the 38 Regiment. You get all of these pieces along with a brief history of the 14th, New Hampshire and Sanborn's service.
